Roblox Game Programmer

CAREERS__DESC_TITLE
  • Build core gameplay systems, new content, and seasonal updates for Roblox games.
  • Take ownership of features from concept and prototyping through implementation, testing, iteration, and launch.
  • Contribute to gameplay loops, progression, game economy, rewards, balancing, social systems, and player motivation.
  • Rapidly prototype ideas, test assumptions, and iterate based on player feedback, performance data, and team reviews.
  • Identify player pain points through playtesting, observation, and data, and develop practical, player-centric solutions that enhance engagement and retention.
  • Support UI, animation, VFX, asset integration, and other content implementation where needed.
  • Participate actively in planning, playtesting, debugging, optimisation, and continuous product improvement.
  • Stay current with Roblox platform updates, development tools, successful games, and industry practices.
CAREERS__REQUIRE_TITLE
  • A diploma or degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Portfolio containing academic projects, personal projects, or professional experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Luau and Roblox Studio, or strong experience in relevant languages such as C#, C++, or Lua with the ability to learn Luau quickly.
  • Familiarity with Roblox player behaviours, platform conventions, and popular game genres.
  • Understanding of client-server architecture, data persistence, performance optimisation, and live game considerations.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly, and thrive in an iterative development environment driven by player feedback.
  • Willingness to contribute beyond programming and develop as a well-rounded game creator.

This role may be structured as a six-month internship or a full-time project-based position depending on the candidate's experience and availability.
